CBT in Chiang Mai — talk therapy you can actually book
Cognitive behavioural therapy is the most-studied talk therapy there is, and the question people actually type — is there an English-speaking therapist in Chiang Mai? — has a better answer than the forums suggest. This page is the map of who states CBT on their own page, read from each provider's own site on 2026-08-26, with the source attached. Nobody is ranked and nobody paid to be here.
Not medical advice — Defiant is a concierge, not a clinic. Mood is serious; this is information about which providers exist and what they say about themselves, not treatment and not a recommendation of any medication or against one.
The words to know
การบำบัดทางความคิดและพฤติกรรม (kan bambat thang khwam-khit lae phruettikam — treatment by thought and behaviour) is CBT; on clinic pages it often just appears as "CBT". Two titles readers conflate: a จิตแพทย์ (chit-ta-phaet, psychiatrist) is the medical doctor who can prescribe; a นักจิตวิทยา (nak-chit-ta-witthaya, psychologist) or counsellor is who sits with you for the weekly talk-therapy work. Many people use both; they are different desks.

Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital (โรงพยาบาลสวนปรุง) — the public anchor
The Department of Mental Health's regional psychiatric hospital, and the one public institution whose own service page names การบำบัดทางความคิดและพฤติกรรม — CBT — inside its psychiatric home-ward programme. It also states a child-and-adolescent clinic (ages 12–18, Mon/Wed/Fri 08:00–16:00, Tue mornings) and a counselling service run by psychiatric nurses. Working language is Thai; bring a Thai speaker or ask Defiant to sit with you.

Nakornping Hospital (โรงพยาบาลนครพิงค์) — the public psychiatric clinic
The provincial public hospital's own clinic page states a full psychiatric outpatient clinic — depression, anxiety, insomnia, mood disorders — staffed by psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, in building 16 (the blue building), floor 1, Mon–Fri 08:00–16:00. Its page names the clinic and the psychologists but not CBT itself, so we print exactly that much. Public-hospital pricing and queues; Thai-first.

established, FDA-approved psychiatry and Thailand does it well — that story is on the brain-stimulation page.
The checklist before the first session
1. Ask the CBT question directly — มีบริการบำบัดแบบ CBT ไหม (mi borikan bambat baep CBT mai) — do you offer CBT? A clinic that says จิตเวช (psychiatry) has not necessarily said talk therapy. 2. Bring your story on paper if you have one: prior diagnoses, what you have tried, current medication by molecule name — the same lesson as our estradiol page. 3. Itemised receipts — แยกรายการ (yaek rai kan) — every session, if any insurer or the VA will ever see this. Veterans: FMP reimburses service-connected care abroad; the walkthrough is =VA-FMP. 4. Inference — teletherapy across borders is an ordinary thing in this trade now; every practice above offers online sessions, so a first video call before you commit to a therapist is a reasonable ask anywhere.
Want it handled?
Defiant can make the first contact, sit the language gap for the public hospitals, and keep the paperwork straight. That's the concierge page — or start with a message.
